Pesquisadores da Fiocruz percorreram bairros de Salvador e descobriram que o mosquito está ocupando os bueiros da cidade e se reproduzindo até mesmo na água suja. “Já existiam evidências no México e na Colômbia de que os bueiros tinham um potencial papel na reprodução dos mosquitos e nossos achados suportam essas evidências anteriores.

A gente começa a acumular um conjunto de resultados que vai sugerir aos programas de ministério e secretarias estaduais que outras ações precisam ser tomadas para enfrentamento dessas doenças que têm acometido nossa população”, diz o pesquisador Guilherme Ribeiro.

A descoberta da Fiocruz ocorreu por acaso. O pesquisador Igor Paploski visitava casas para procurar mosquitos e percebeu que havia atividade dos mosquitos nos bueiros e nas áreas externas de casa e condomínios. Foi iniciado um estudo em bueiros localizados nos bairros de Brotas, Piatã, Pituba e Cabula. Na pesquisa,122 bueiros foram marcados por GPS.

O resultado foi que em 49% dos bueiros existia água suja e parada. Em 50 bueiros tinham larvas e mosquitos do Aedes. O estudo foi publicado na Revista “Parasites & Vectors” (Parasitas & Vetores, em português), especializada em doenças transmitidas por insetos e respeitada internacionalmente. (G1)
