Ômicron responde por 96% de amostras analisadas, diz Fiocruz

A variante Ômicron está presente em todas as regiões do país e respondia, no fim de janeiro, por 95,9% das amostras do coronavírus SARS-CoV-2 que passaram por análise genética da Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz). Os dados foram divulgados nesta sexta-feira (4) pela Rede Genômica Fiocruz que avaliou 3.739 sequenciamentos feitos entre 14 e 27 de janeiro.

A dominância da nova variante sobre as demais cepas em todo o país ocorreu ao longo do mês de janeiro, já que em dezembro a Ômicron foi detectada em 39,4% dos genomas sequenciados.

A Fiocruz informa que os primeiros genomas da Ômicron no Brasil são de amostras do fim de novembro. A partir daí, a variante se expandiu rapidamente até superar a variante Delta ainda em dezembro nas regiões Sudeste, Nordeste e Sul.

O sequenciamento genético é feito por amostragem a partir de material coletado de testes RT-PCR positivos para SARS-CoV-2. Atuam nesse trabalho o Laboratório de Viroses Respiratórias e Sarampo do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (IOC/Fiocruz) e unidades da Fundação em seis estados, em parceria com Laboratórios Estaduais de Saúde Pública (LACENs) e com a Coordenação-Geral de Laboratórios do Ministério da Saúde.
